For some reason I can't get my edges to grow. What recommendations do you have, if any?

My hair started breaking off in the back, mostly the middle, but also throughout the back. My scalp is extremely flaky. I cannot find anything to remedy this problem. Nearly everyday my scalp has the same problems.
